Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty", age 93, passed away on Saturday after a long period of declining health. She was born to Walter & Bertha Lester. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1933 and Auburn Business School in 1934. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several years. Betty married Arthur "Art" Stevenson on July 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1990. Before moving to Madison in 1982, she and her husband lived in Oakfield, NY where they were active in community activities and members of the Oakfield Presbyterian Church. The last 26 years she has been a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison. She is survived by a son, Professor Walter R. (Judy) Stevenson, two grandsons, James (Molly) Stevenson of Oregon, WI and Mark (Sarah) Stevenson of Lombard, IL; four granddaughters Paige, Natalie, Anabelle and Lily and two nieces Barbara (Paul) Stoecker of Cazenovia, NY and Marjorie (William) Oberkoetter of Rochester, NY. A memorial service was held at Oakwood Village Chapel, Madison on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Village West and Hospice Care for their loving and compassionate care. We will miss you.
