Maurine Clinger Hymas 1928 ~ 2007 Maurine Clinger Hymas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Alpine, Utah on June 22, 2007. Born on Dec. 12, 1928 in San Diego, California, she joined the family of Arthur Benjamin Clinger and Ruth Kemp. She married Theo Alfred Hymas on July 10, 1946 in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Maurine spent her life in the service of her family and the Lord. She has served as Primary president, Young Women president and Relief Society president on ward and stake levels for many years. Maurine and Theo served a church mission to the Philippines in 1989-90. She served as choir director in every ward in which she lived, bringing the total years as choir director to well over 20. She also served in the San Diego Temple for five years.
She was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, and an amazing seamstress. She loved to quilt and hand quilted many elegant quilts. Maurine will always be remembered for her love of people. Everyone who knows her has been lifted up by her kind and loving words and actions. She truly leaves a legacy of love. Together they raised five children - Allan (Carol), Randy (Barbara), Lyle (Sherilyn), Mel (Anese) and Carla (Dennis Pratt). She leaves behind 17 grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. She is survived by five of her 10 siblings.
There will be a viewing on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Matterhorn Chapel located at 285 N. Matterhorn Drive in Alpine, Utah from 6-8 p.m. The funeral services will be held in the same location on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.
