Mary Frances Tate Evans, 47, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed from this life on March 26, 1971 at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith following a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Van Buren, she was born June 13, 1923 in Van Buren to L.C. and Sarah Hawkins Tate.
She was a member of the First United Methodist church and Auxiliary of Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.
She was survived by her husband, Doyal Evans; three sons, Billy Loyd Evans and Lonnie Evans both of Van Buren and Jimmy Evans of Fort Smith; her mother, Mrs. L.C. (Sarah) Tate of Van Buren; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Van Buren with the Rev. John E. Chapman and Rev. Felix Holland officiating. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery by Ocker Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were C.H. Brown of Sallisaw, Fred Jackson, Truman Lincks, Joe Weinsinger, Paul Moore and Chester Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Evans, Doyle Lankford, Hiram Charles, Bob Evans, Mick Anible, Jim Tittle and O.V. Stockton.
