Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Eldon Victor Orton, 78, died Wed., May 28, 1997 at McKay-Dee Hospital from an extended illness.
He was born September 12, 1918 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Clarence V. and Mabel Randall Orton. He married June Ellen Wayment on November 19, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a generous, loving, patient man who loved sports, golf, fly fishing, dancing and his family and was always providing service to others. He served 20 years on the North Ogden City Council, where he was instrumental in establishing several parks and recreational facilities. He was a munitions equipment specialist at Hill Air Force Base for 40 years, traveling throughout the world with his work. He served in the armed services during World War II.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many church callings including bishopric counselor and stake and regional dance director. He served as an officiator in the Ogden Temple. He and June served two missions: Rapid City, South Dakota and a membership locator mission for the records and finance department.
He is survived by his wife, June, of North Ogden; a daughter, Judy O. (Bryce) Olson, Bountiful, Utah; sons, Keith Brent (Carmen) Orton, Seattle, Washington; Paul "W" (Teresa) Orton, Littleton, Colorado; Blair Eldon (Linda) Orton, Ogden, Utah; Val Orton, North Salt Lake; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a foster daughter, Ati Achdiat Graham of Indonesia.
Also surviving are four sisters, Allene Atkinson, Bountiful; Lettice Rich, North Ogden; Nona Jean Searle, Salt Lake City; and Beverly Orton, Atascadero, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Max C. Orton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden Stake Center, 626 East 2600 North, with Bishop Paul Terry of the North Ogden 3rd Ward officiating. Friends and relatives may attend a viewing on Friday, May 30th from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. and Saturday at the Stake Center from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, North Ogden Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the D.A.V./V.F.W.
