RALPH RAYMOND GUNN SR.
Ralph Raymond Gunn Sr., the son of William W. and Mary Vale Gunn was born in Jewell County on April 29,1894 and died at Concordia on October 26,1974 at the age of 80 years, five months and 27 days.
He was raised in Jewell County on a farm, attended school there and graduated from Hardy high school with the class of 1912.
Ralph Gunn and Verda M. Helmer were united in marriage on October 4, 1922. They built their farm west of Republic in the White Rock Community, where they have continued to make their home. To this union were born seven children.
One of the highlights of their marriage was the celebration of their Golden Anniversary two years ago with all of their children and many grandchildren present.
He was a member of the United Methodist church of Republic. He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Medical Corp and served in France during WWI.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gale; brothers, Lucian, Chester, Preston and one sister, Sara Gunn.
Survivors include his wife of the home, sons and daughters, Merrill L. of Camarillo, Calif., Charles W. of Republic, Marilynn Gunn Birrell of Republic, Ralph Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., Robert L., of Republic, Constance Gunn Smith of Camarillo, Calif. Also there are 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two brothers, William Gunn of Superior, Nebr., Marion Gunn of Hemet, Calif.
Memorial services were held October 29, 1974, .10:00 a.m., at the United Methodist church of Republic, with Reverend Loren Silsby conducting.
