Amy Edith Johnson was the oldest child of Joel Johnson and his wife Ella Florina Kier Johnson. Her father's family had moved to Kansas from Wisconsin a few years before her birth and her mom's family had recently moved from Missouri to Kansas. Both sides of her family were involved in farming but her father's family also ran a pharmacy and music store in Yates Center, Kansas. In her teens, she and her parents and siblings moved to the newly opened lands in Indian Territory and first settled in Payne County. Around 1904, the family moved to Okemah, Oklahoma where her parents opened 2 businesses in one large building. The first floor was a furniture store and furniture factory and the second floor was a hotel. She met and married William Arthur Hennesey there in 1904. They had 4 children: Sylven, Audry, Bonnie, and Joe. A few years later, her family had a catastrophe when her father was bitten by a copperhead snake and died in spring of 1910. She took her children and moved in with her mom for a few months and we find her and 3 of her children living with her mom,Ella Kier Johnson in the 1910 US Census. Then in 1914, her husband William Arthur Hennesey died. In 1919, she met and married a newcomer to Oklahoma, Carl Latham of Georgia. Together they had one son, Bill Latham.
