Obituary:
Sara L. Emmons, Daughter of Albert and Rachel Emmons was born Feb 17, 1878 on the farm northwest of What Cheer, which has since been her home until she was called to the Eternal Home on the morning of Nov 13, 1937.

She graduated from Friends Boarding School, Barnesville, Ohio, in 1898. A few years later, she went with her parents to Boulder, Colo. where she spent two winters in an effort to regain her health. She returned much benefitted and although never very robust, she was able to care faithfully for her mother through her declining years. The mother passed away in 1920 and Sara kept up the home for her father until he too was called from this life in 1933.

On Jan 25, 1930 she was united in marriage with Ole E Stakland, who, with his three children added much happiness to the home. In the last two years of Sara's life the progress of disease became more pronounced and increased steadily. She continued her interest in home duties and helped with advice and counsel after failing strength compelled her to remain mostly in her chair or bed.

She was a life long member of the Society of Friends. Her quiet cheerfulness and unassuming trust endeared her to those who knew her.
