Obituary
Long Islander
Saturday morning George W. Jackson, of 196 Nassau Avenue, passed to life eternal after being in poor health several years. The deceased was born in Woodbury 64 years ago, the son of George and Mary Nock Jackson. His mature years were passed in Huntington Station and Huntington Village. He married in early manhood Miss Martha B. Van Sise of Syosset, and she survives with her two sons George A. and Francis A., and a granddaughter, Barbara, all of this village, and one sister, Grace, wife of B.H. Wehmann of Bethpage. He was one of the organizers of the Huntington Manor Fire Department, serving as chief. He was a Past Noble Grand of Ellsworth Lodge, I.O.O.F., a member of Jephtha Lodge, F. & A. M., charter member of Huntington Commandery, and belonged to Asharokan Chapter, R.A.M. Funeral services were held at his late home on Nassau Avenue Monday afternoon, the Rev. A.E. Greanoff officiating. Mr. Jackson was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church. Interment was in Huntington Rural Cemetery. For many years he conducted a blacksmith business in Cold Spring Harbor and later in Huntington Village. An unusually large display of floral offerings bespoke his esteem among his circle of friends.
