Obituary
SIROTA - Dorothy Sirota, beloved wife of Edward, of Montreal, Quebec, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on July 6, 1997, at the age of 81. Dorothy was the loving mother of Marcia of New York City, Perry and his wife Karen of Calgary, and Lorne of Winnipeg; and the grandmother of Rebecca, Joshua and Emily. She is survived by her sisters, Tauba Segall and Celia Atkins of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Pearl Miro of Montreal; and by her brother Moe of Montreal. Dorothy had a long career as a community social worker, and later as a professor of social work at McGill University in Montreal. She sat on numerous committees and served two terms as a school trustee. In recent years, she wrote a weekly news column on aging. She had numerous hobbies, including painting and needlepoint. She was a devoted friend to many. Dorothy had a gentle and generous soul and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 - 17 Avenue S.W.), today, July 9, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.).
