Obituary
Wimpy passed away Saturday morning at the Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties in Ottumwa. He was 82 years, 8 months and 13 days of age.

Bernard Roe Watters, son of William Arthur and Eva Mae Stevens Watters, was born February 11, 1928 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended school in Oskaloosa. Wimpy served with the U.S.Army from November 3, 1950 to November 3, 1952 in the 6th Armored Division at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He married Audrey L. Spratt September 23, 1950 in Oskaloosa. They later divorced. Bernard worked for Iowa Power and Light Company for 29 years as a meter reader and foreman of the tree crew. He retired in 1985 and was a 56 year member of the Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 499. Wimpy enjoyed his grandchildren, the outdoors and visiting with his neighbors.

Wimpy's family includes a son and daughter-in-law, William and Karen Watters of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews to whom he was a father and helped raise.

Besides his parents, Wimpy was preceded in death by his former wife, Audrey on August 25, 2003 and two brothers: Arthur and Cecil Watters. Memorials may be made to Hospice in Ottumwa.
