A Memory of Cousin Frank Lerner and His Wife, Lillian Smith...

There is one story about Bubby that we'll never forget! It was probably around 1954. We had not been married too long and Bubby was over at our apartment. She asked me (Frank) what I wanted for my birthday. Of course I answered, "Don't bother. Nothing." "Yes, you do," she said. "Tell me what you want." "Okay, you can give me a hundred dollars." I was joking, and that was the end of it.

At dinnertime, Bubby returned, much to our surprise. She handed me an envelope. Inside, there was a hundred dollars! "You're a dummy," she said. "You should've asked for more!"
