Maurice "Danny" Lewis, 79, of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, in Sterling. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow celebrating. Inurnment will be at Oregon Trail Cemetery, Evansville, Wyo.

Danny was born on Sept. 5, 1932, in Sterling to Maurice and Orpha (Cossey) Lewis. He graduated high school from Lone Star and was in the U.S. Navy. He was an electrician for Bozarth in Sterling and went on to join the oil industry in the '60s and worked for several companies in New Mexico and Wyoming as a consultant, finally going independent doing consulting until he retired in 1994 in Casper, Wyo.

On Aug. 31, 1956, he married Nancy Ann Pehel. On April 19, 1994, he married Virgie Mae Hill. He was a veteran and a member of the Elks. He is survived by daughters, Dahnette Moore and Tami Lewis; sister, Anne and husband Ron Kerchal; sisters-in-law, Lavrine Lewis and Jean Lewis; grandchildren, Heather, Chris, Matt and Robby; numerous nephews and nieces; caregivers, Steve and Bechi Kerchal, Shawna and Tim Shelley, and Bob and Lisa Blach.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Nancy Ann Pehel; second wife, Virgie Mae Hill; and daughter, Lorellen Ann Mullen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Plains or St. Anthony Catholic School in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
