Obituary
Emmie Jewell Williams, daughter of Alma (Hammond) and David Walter Williams, was born April 23, 1924, in Starkville, Miss. Jewell was raised in nearby Maben, Miss. and graduated from Maben High School. During World War II, she lived with her sister in Newton and worked in quality control at Maytag Corporation, which at that time manufactured special components used by 16 combat airplanes.

On Sept. 17, 1945, Jewell married Robert Earl Floyd in Newton. They lived in Newton for a short time and later moved to Creston where they lived for almost 50 years. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston and was an active member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a volunteer in the Greater Community Hospital Auxiliary gift shop.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Lynn (husband Kim) Youngblood of Schaumburg, Ill.; son Robin D. (wife June) Floyd of Creston; sister Mary Betts of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, Jill Youngblood of Schaumburg, Ill., Martha Floyd and Ed Floyd, both of Orient and Lisa Parrott of Creston; sister-in-law Adelaide (husband Floyd) Christensen; niece Judy (Christensen) Brown; and two nephews, David Christensen and Chris Christensen.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, husband on April 18, 1996, sister Rosa Gullette and two brothers, David W. Williams III and Willie F. Williams.
