MRS. JOHN LEWIS DEAD" "Mrs. John Lewis, of Albany, sister of Troy Pettit, of Stanberry, died on Monday night last week. She was 71 years old. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Carmack church, conducted by the Rev. Howard Judah, pastor of the Baptist church in Albany. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Lewis had been in frail health for some time and for the past several months had been almost helpless. She was the daughter of the late R. E. and Sadie Pettit and was born on a farm 7 miles northeast of Stanberry on April 1, 1877. She had spent all her life in and near Gentry County. She was united in mariage in 1895 to Wm. John Lewis and to that union five children were born. Two of the children, Lawrence W. and Hazel M. died in infancy.

Besides her husband, of the home, she is survived by three children, who are: Mrs. A. H. Funderburg, of north of Carmack Corner, Mrs. Herbert Summa, of Gentry, and Clarence Lewis, of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Troy Pettit, Stanberry, Jas. Pettit, of Torrington, Wyo., Myron Pettit, address unknown, and Mrs. Maude Lyons, of Cedar Rapids, Ia. Besides these relatives, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends."
