The Olney Current for Eleventh Month, 1940, reported "Wilson Emmons and Eva Penrose were married 11-12-1940 at Coal Creek meeting. After a trip to New Orleans they will live in an apartment newly fixed in the Emmons homestead. Irving and Mary Smith with their family occupy the rest of the house."

Obituary:
Wilson T. Emmons died at his home near What Cheer, Iowa on 11-3-1961, at the age of 86, following an illness of three years.

He lived an active life as a farmer and later as an agent, adjustor and secretary in the field of mutual insurance. Throughout his life he took a responsible interest in community activities including the installation and servicing of the first telephones in the neighborhood about 1900.

He married Amy L. Penrose in 1899. Their five children, Chester W., Mary E. Smith, Ardith L., Russell J., and Alton T. were all able to be at home at the time of the funeral.

In 1940 he married Eva D. Penrose, who also preceded him in death.

Wilson Emmons attended the Friends School at Coal Creek, Iowa, where he later taught, and graduated from Scattergood with the class of 1896 which kept a class letter circulating for more than fifty years. He was Clerk of Iowa Yearly Meeting for a number of years, [1934-1945] and maintained a concerned interest in the Society of Friends as long as his health permitted.
