Virginia Williams ('47) Lemmermann died on August 14 as a result of a two-car accident in rural Mitchell County, IA. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church in Stl Ansgar, IA on August 18, and at the Friends Meetinghouse in Whittier, IA on the 19th, with interment following there. A daughter of John and Edna Williams, Virginia grew up in the Whittier, IA community. Following her years at Scattergood, she graduated from William Penn College in Oskaloosa, IA. She taught at Olney Friends School in Barnesville, OH, worked for the Friends World Committee headquartered in Richmond, IN, leaving there to become director of educational seminars for groups visiting the United Nations. She arranged educational seminars and meetings with U.N. deligates, embassies and consulates. Virginia traveled to Europe and attended conferences with Young Friends International in Helsinki, Finland; she was a part of a touring group in the Soviet Union, Lithuania and Poland in 1958. IN 1959 she married Robert Lemmermann, a Methodist minister, and with him served churches in the East and in Iowa. Robert retired from the ministry in 1995. Virginia's many talents and interests included gardening, bird watching, and poetry writing. In addition to her husband, Virginia is survived by two children, Edward and Janet ('82), two grandchildren, a sister and three brothers.
