Obituary of Louis W. Emmons, from the What Cheer Patriot Chronicle,6-5-1944

Funeral for Louis W. Emmons, 77, was at the Snider funeral home at West Liberty Saturday at 2:30 p. m. Burial was at the Oakridge cemetery at West Liberty.

Mr. Emmons died May 27 at West Liberty, after a lingering illness. The son of Albert and Rachel Emmons, he was born in Benton county April 20, 1870. Most of his life was spent in the vicinity of What Cheer.

He was twice married; first to Ora Bundy in the year 1893. To them was born one son, Randall. His first wife died in the year 1898. May 6, 1903, he was married to Edith Heald.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, Randall of Robbins, N. C., Harold of Iowa City, Marion of Roscoe, Calif., Melvin of What Cheer, and one daughter, Mrs Ethel Hampton of What Cheer. Other survivors are three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
